Islamabad: The Enforcement Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA), District Administration and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police conducted a mega anti-encroachment operation on the state land encroached upon in the locale of Bari Imam on Thursday, according to news sources.
The task teams demolished a total of 570 sheds, shops, ovens etc that were constructed illegally on the tract of state land. The operation started from Muslim Colony Road and towards the University Road. Heavy machinery was used to eliminate these illegal structures.

The encroachments were removed from the wall adjacent to the wall of Bari Imam Shrine and Bari Imam Bazaar. Other structures were removed from both sides of the roads leading from the University to Mohallah Jajaar in the area of Bari Imam.

As per the source, these encroachments were not only an inconvenience for the public, but also the devotees who visit the shrine. Additionally, it hindered the smooth flow of traffic in the area. The officials resolved to continue the strict operation against the encroachers and illegal constructions to retrieve the state land in the capital.
In a related development, CDA has also sealed a shopping mall in Sector G-6 on violating building by-laws.
