Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Development Working Party (DWP) on Tuesday (September 14) approved the Islamabad Public Transport Project Concept-1 (PC-1), news sources reported. The meeting, presided over by CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed authorised eight projects, including a bus service for Islamabad residents.

According to the CDA spokesperson Asif Ali Raza, the PKR 873 million projects is scheduled to begin in February 2022. The proposed route for the buses includes Sohan Garden to Faisal Mosque, Bhara Kahu to Faiz Ahmed Faiz Metro Station and from Tarnol Railway Station to M5 Metro Station.

In addition to this, funds were approved for the following projects:
- PKR 193 million were approved for the construction of underpasses at the junction of Ataturk Avenue, G-5, and G-6
- PKR 157 million has been approved for the widening of Jinnah Avenue and Ayub Chowk from Ataturk Avenue.
- PKR 20 million is granted for a Smart City feasibility study, and it was agreed to create YouTube and FM radio channels to improve communication between the municipal authority and the people.
- PKR 40 million were approved for the construction of 115 public restrooms in Islamabad
- PKR 689 million has been set aside for the purchase of machinery for the modernisation of the sewage system.
Reportedly, all the projects are expected to complete in the coming six months.
