Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday shared its plan to acquire land in old villages of Margalla Hills, Zone-III, according to media reports.

CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed, while chairing a meeting, discussed the proposal of acquiring land in villages that are situated in Margalla Hills National Park area; including Talhar and Gokina. However, the final decision in this regard will be taken in the coming days.
A CDA official (whose name was not disclosed) mentioned that the civic agency will not go for compulsory land acquisition, instead, the agency will opt for soft acquisition. Under this type of acquisition, people will not be allowed to sell the land to private buyers. They will be asked to sell their land to CDA at market rates whenever they want.
It is pertinent to note that Islamabad is divided into five zones and Margalla Hills National Park falls under Zone-III. According to CDA officials, Zone-III spans over the area of 50,398 acres, out of which 19,992 acres were acquired land and 18,398 acres were private and unacquired land, and 12,008 acres were state and forest lands.

The CDA official stated that the agency will acquire land of old villages only. The issue of remaining private land in Zone-III will be taken up by the master plan commission.
