Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) recently floated formal tenders in several national dailies for carrying out infrastructural development work in Sector E-12 of the capital city – after a delay of four decades since the said initiative was first approved, a news source reported.

Previously, the authority had announced that it would be initiating development work in stalled sectors in the city during the coming months. Consequently, the oldest stalled sector, E-12, was taken up first and the authority conducted operations to acquire land in the locality.
A CDA official announced that about 4,000 housing units would be developed in this sector. Development work will begin with the service road and then the momentum will be built from there. He further stated that work on the other stalled sectors would begin shortly. At present, there are roughly 17 stalled sectors in Islamabad.

E-12 was announced back in the 1970s and the CDA acquired land for 5,000 housing units. In 1989, the CDA sold plots to over 4,000 buyers but was unable to move out local landowners to allow development work to begin.
The sector has an area of approximately 777 acres and consists of six mouzas: Bhakkar Fateh Baksh, Dharek Mohri, Sari Saral, Bhakar Mohri, Golra Sharif, and Bara Darri.
