Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has invited consultancy firms to submit proposals for the design and construction of a flyover at the railway lines on the Kahuta-Sihala Road in the capital, according to a post published on the authority’s official Facebook page on October 3.

Under the project, a 400-metre-long overhead bridge and an 800-metre long approach road (400-metre-long each way) are to be constructed. The project funding would be mainly provided by the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), however, PKR 300 million were allocated by the federal government in the current fiscal.
Furthermore, the selected consultancy firm will also assist in “shifting of services from the vicinity in addition to keeping liaison with the Pakistan Railways for obtaining no-objection certificated (NOC)”.

The construction of a flyover at the Kahuta-Sihala Road is a long-standing demand of the residents owing to the persisting traffic issues. The bridge, once completed, is expected to significantly improve the traffic flow in the area and resolve the daily commuters’ woes.
