Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday (October 15) received bids from four international companies willing to provide 30 buses for launching metro service from Peshawar Mor to the Islamabad International Airport (IIA), news sources reported.

The bids were submitted by the Hanger Bus Company, Master Motors Yutong, AVES Enterprises and Foton Company. The civic authority will open the financial bids of the qualifying firms at the end of October, after the evaluation of companies’ profiles by consultants. As per the project details, of the 30 buses, 24 buses will run from Peshawar Mor to N5 bus station while the rest much larger buses will run from N5 bus station to IIA. The buses will operate 24 hours a day and will provide a commute to the passengers travelling to or from Islamabad International Airport. The sources in CDA have said that the authority is planning to complete the process within 4 months to start the service by March 2022.

The 25.6-kilometre-long track for the project was built by National Highway Authority (NHA) from Peshawar Mor to IIA with a cost of PKR 16 billion in January 2017. However, the work on the command and control, ticketing, station management, cleanliness and security systems is still pending. The funds for the projects were provided by the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
