Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has
announced its decision to hire consultants in a bid to develop the city’s
infrastructure, according to news sources. To this effect, a delegation from
the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) met
CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed at the authority’s headquarters on Thursday.
The two sides discussed the issues being faced by the city’s traders community. The CDA chief informed the ICCI representatives of the civic agency’s decision to improve the city’s road infrastructure, as well as the street lights and the sewerage system.
To facilitate
this measure, CDA is seeking the assistance of
consultants. Similarly, the building control and lease issues would also be
fixed after deliberations with the chamber officials and issues relating to CDA
domain would also be settled.
In a related development, the CDA has allocated funds worth PKR 100 million for improving road infrastructure, sewerage system and other facilities in Industrial Triangle Kahuta, while an additional PKR 300 million has been allocated for the uplift and upgradation of the city’s markets.
Ahmed further stated that the CDA had resumed the development work of E-12, I-14, I-15, I-16, Park Enclave and Burma Bridge on the directives of the prime minister. He added that the construction of an underpass on Faisal Avenue was underway.
He mentioned that in order to tackle the growing traffic problems on Murree Road and Park Road planning of underpass at Rawal Dam Chowk had been completed and that the development work was expected to commence on a timely basis.
