Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday (August 31) received authorization to enforce bylaws in Sector E-11, news sources reported.

The authorisation came from the federal cabinet which made the decision based on a summary presented by the CDA. The regulatory body had asked that the government lift the moratorium on the regularisation of the revenue estate of Golra Shareef’s land acquisition imposed in 1968. However, the panel only approved the bylaw’s implementation for the time being. Following the adoption of bylaws, the societies will be regularised, and unlawful housing plans will be scrutinised, including hydrological studies to establish the society’s planning level.

According to a member of the regulatory authority, the expense of such surveys would be paid by the societies’ owners. Following the recent urban floods in the federal capital, the CDA moved the summary. The authority stated that the unstructured nature of society and poor business policies have converted these sectors into large slums. The Sector E-11 rules were drafted in 2008 but were never implemented; nevertheless, the authorities are currently contemplating enforcing the regulations in letter and spirit.
