Islamabad: The Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) have developed an asphalt mixing plant in an attempt to conserve the environment of the city, according to a news source. CDA’s Machinery Pool Organisation (MPO) Directorate has been tasked with running the operations of the said facility.

Previously, for developing this project, the authorities concerned had consulted the Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) for conducting feasibility requirements communicated as per international environmental standards.
The results of various water quality, air quality, and noise tests revealed that the plant was functioning within the ambit of the environmental quality standards framework.

The plant is fitted with the latest pollution control devices. It has two dust collectors: a primary and a secondary one. The site of the plant is also surrounded by trees; acting as another barrier against pollutants.
Moreover, the facility is expected to help the CDA save sufficient funds as it is considered a cost-effective solution to carpeting major avenues and roads as compared to commencing with the hiring of a contractor.
