Islamabad: The Islamabad Capital Administration (ICT) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday carried out a joint ‘grand’ operation to eliminate encroachments from the Fruit and Vegetable Market of Sector I-11, according to news sources.

An official who participated in the anti-encroachment operation revealed that this step had been taken to ensure social distancing, and avoid crowding in the largest fruit and vegetable market in the country.

The official added that the Fruit and Vegetable market was visited by hundreds of people on a daily basis, which is why maintaining social distancing was becoming an issue in the area. The anti-encroachment teams moved the hand carts outside the market; making sure to allow sufficient space between the carts.
Meanwhile, in another operation, the Enforcement Directorate of the CDA razed over 140 shanty settlements/ mud huts of slum dwellers in Sector G-11/4.
