Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has directed Building Control to conduct a survey of all commercial and high-rise buildings in the federal city to check structural stability, according to news published on February 15.

As per the details, Deputy Director General Mohammad Shahbaz Hussain directed all the wings of the building control to carry out a survey of all commercial and high-rise buildings within ICT limits as the federal city falls in Zone-2B of seismic zones. CDA Chairman Captain (retired) Noor-ul-Amin Mengal has asked all the developers, occupants, and owners are requested to get the buildings vetted for structural stability from reputable third-party consultants in order to avoid any untoward event.

A CDA official (whose name was not disclosed) mentioned that this exercise is being done to check the structural stability of buildings so that the faulty ones could be pointed out. Moreover, it was shared that Islamabad lies in Zone 2-B, keeping this in mind, awareness should be created among the stakeholders regarding the importance of structural stability of buildings.
