Director of General Health Dr Hasan Orooj stated that the plasma registry was established in the wake of the increasing number of cases reported in Islamabad. He added that plasma is the clear part of the blood left behind when the blood cells have been removed. He explained that this part contains antibodies and other proteins.
According to reports, plasma therapy expert Dr Tahir Shamsi is scheduled to visit the capital city in order treat COVID-19 patients. Meanwhile, Dr Orooj clarified that plasma donation was just like blood donation. He added that donors could contact CDA at:
- 0333-5169663
- 0321-5848177
- 0335-5135455
Dr Orooj said that CDA has launched the plasma registry initiative with the objective of consolidating data of potential plasma donors for Islamabad. He added that recovered COVID-19 patients would have to submit name, blood group, and mobile contact number at the mentioned numbers.
