The Civil Development Authority (CDA) has planned to connect 7th Avenue with Murree Road by constructing a double road right from Kashmir highway crossing to BB Road near Rawal Dam. According to civic body, execution of the plan will be started soon.
An official told the media this network will help reducing traffic blockage on main highway linking Islamabad with Murree, Abbottabad and Azad Kashmir. At the same time, the traffic congestion at Faisal Avenue will be reduced and people travelling from Faizabad to Secretariat and sector G series can also adopt this route.
After this linkage of Murree Road with 7th Avenue, it will become one of the major roads entering in the federal capital, parallel to Islamabad Highway and Constitution Highway. According to plan of CDA, across Soharwardy Avenue, Kashmir Highway and along Garden Road, it just needs 2 kilometres of extension and we will link the city with Murree Road.
By disclosing further plans of CDA an official told that the authority was also planning to construct a food court, flower market and public washrooms in G-10 Markaz. The Authority is also considering to shift various shops, clinics and food courts working in different residential areas to Blue Area.
Therefore, to create more space, high-rise buildings up to 25 stories would be allowed and Blue Area will be expanding from Khyber Plaza to F-9 Park. During year 2012-2013, CDA would also construct two underpasses at Blue Area. Rs 300 million have been allocated to the construction projects. Likewise, Rs 175 million has been allocated to construct overhead, pedestrian bridges in other areas of Islamabad.
