Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has joined forces with Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) to complete the Rawal Dam Flyover Project before the September deadline, news sources reported on May 6. The FWO will start working on the project in full swing by May 16 to meet the deadline.

The officials revealed that the decision to contract FWO came following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to the project. The premier ordered that the project be completed in four months to relieve traffic congestion in one of the city’s busiest areas. According to the CDA, the asphaltic foundation course for the slip road towards Serena Hotel (which constitutes most of the project) has already been completed. The remainder of the project will be completed in collaboration with FWO to meet the deadline. Additionally, the CDA has turned over the Islamabad Highway project from Gulberg to Railway Bridge and Korang Bridge to FWO to expedite construction work. The project was started by the CDA, but it has been slow-paced.

It is also worth noting that FWO has been appointed as the state-owned construction firm for most projects in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, including the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project and the Defence Chowk Flyover Project. The projects were handed over to the state-owned firms due to their sensitivity and location.
