As per the sources, the proposal will be taken up in the forthcoming sixth meeting of the CDA board of directors. The board is expected to mull the allocation of available spaces to private schools on a lease basis, which is not permissible under the existing regulations.

As per the CDA regulations, the properties in residential sectors can be given to both government and private educational institutions. However, the CDA allocates properties at discounted rates to public schools while private schools need to acquire plots through the competitive procedure at the market rate. The authority is now aiming to enable private schools to construct purpose-built campuses and remove them from residential neighbourhoods.
The critical authorities have argued that since private schools are viable businesses and they do not extend the benefit of nominally-priced leases to their students, CDA should auction plots instead of leasing them.
