Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed has has announced that the authority will carry out an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) before shifting the temporary landfill site from Sector I-12 to Sector H-16, according to news sources.

Reportedly, the CDA officials have said that during their upcoming meeting, the board will discuss shifting the landfill site to the 100 kanals of infertile land on a temporary basis in Sector H-16 – after the EIA has been executed in close cooperation with the Pakistan Environment Protection Agency (Pak-EPA).

Moreover, the CDA Chairman said that the site will be shifted only after a proper landfill area has been established. The officials have also said that the relocation of the landfill site is important before the development work in the sector can take place. Before Eid, four sites including sector H-16 were proposed for the project and the officials now believe that this sector is the perfect choice for a temporary landfill site.
In a similar development, the CDA and Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) have also agreed to jointly set up a landfill site near Chakwal.
