Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has requested permission of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) for the execution of both 10th Avenue and I.J.P. Road projects (through the Ministry of Defence) on a single tender basis, according to a news published today (April 16).

Reportedly, the authority requested the PPRA for giving relaxation in rules for five infrastructure projects. It was also reported that during a meeting held on April 1, PPRA allowed CDA to get three projects; Khayaban-i- Margalla, Alipur Farash Apartments scheme and Ghazi Barotha Water supply – ‘through the defence ministry on the single tender basis’.

However, the PPRA didn’t exempt 10th Avenue and I.J.P. Road projects during that meeting and CDA has requested for the authority to review its decision and exempt these projects from the operation of Public Procurement Rules 2004, as well. It was also mentioned that overhauling of IJP Road is to cost around PKR 6 billion and the construction of 10th Avenue was also a multibillion project.
