Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has expressed concerns over Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s decision to fund the signal-free Islamabad Expressway project by using the funds meant for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) in the fiscal budget of 2018-2019, according to a news report. Previously, the CDA asked for PKR 10.7 billion to complete the remaining parts of the project.
Abbasi had approved the project, but directed the CDA to get the project scrutinised by the Planning Commission’s Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), a process that takes three to six months.
The CDA has stressed that under PSDP, the project will take another round of scrutinising which will take another 3-6 months, and have asked the prime minister to exclude the project from the PSDP and ask for a special grant.
