Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) administration has drafted a comprehensive plan to enhance the performance of four of its directorates and under the initial phase of the said plan, the Islamabad Expressway and other major arteries of the capital city are expected to undergo carpeting work, according to a news report published on October 9.

Previously, the government had transferred four directorates of the Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) to the CDA to ensure smooth operation of said wings and address the problems being faced by the citizens of Islamabad. The bodies handed over to the CDA are: Directorate of Water (Bulk Water Supply and Water and Sewerage Development), Environment Wing (Urban, Regional, Parks), Directorate of Sanitation and City Sewerage and Directorate of Engineering (MPO, Street Lights and MR&M).

Under the said plan’s first phase, road carpeting will be executed in several housing sectors in addition to the carpeting of the Islamabad Expressway. In this regard, the authority is currently carpeting the roads in Sector I and its subsectors.
Similarly, the Environment Wing has been tasked with eliminating weeds and wild vegetation in the areas surrounding the Sri Nagar Highway, the Margalla Road, the Ninth Avenue, and the F-9 Park. Also, to improve the sanitation condition in the city, the Sanitation Directorate will now operate in two shifts.
