Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has set up pickets around the Rawal Dam area with police assistance, according to a news source. These fortifications are expected to aid the authority in countering the rise of fish mortality incidents, perpetrated by individuals, in Rawal Lake.
The decision to raise these safeguards was recently taken by the CDA fisheries department after another episode of this matter ensued this month, according to officials from the capital administration. Following the incident, a case against ‘unidentified individuals’ was registered with the Secretariat police under Sections 277 and 429 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The officials remarked that such incidents have been taking place repeatedly over the past couple of years.
Ten pickets have been placed on the edges of the dam; with the work carried out under the supervision of Director Agriculture Extension Service Qaiser Khan Khattak. Additionally, 45 capital administration officials have been deployed in the area for working in two 12-hour shifts.
Two police reserves will also patrol the area to handle any untoward situations that might arise.
