Islamabad: The Planning Commission has directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to establish a Project Management Unit (PMU) to monitor the progress of the consultant hired for making revisions to the Islamabad master plan, according to news sources.

Previously, the cabinet had constituted an expert commission in December 2018 for the revision of the capital’s masterplan. However, the commission deferred the task to the consultant firm and focused on drafting new bylaws.
After getting the terms and conditions reviewed from the Planning Commission, the cabinet instructed the CDA to hire the consultant firm in November 2019.

Recently, the CDA was reported to have completed four inquires pertaining to the 11 complaints received by the authority that reported various instances of state land being used for purposes that were in violation of the masterplan.
