Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is considering the dualization of Pir Sohawa Road, which connects the picturesque Margalla Hills National Park to the federal capital and the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a news source reported on July 14.

As per the details, the CDA also plans to establish an alternative route to the Bari Imam area in order to address the increasing traffic congestion. During a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, chaired by MNA Nuzhat Pathan, CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal, highlighted the growing traffic congestion on Pir Sohawa Road, which has become a major inconvenience for the Capital Territory Administration.

CDA Chairman Mengal announced that the authority is working on the PC-1 project to establish a reception and information centre in the national park along Pir Sohawa Road. Additionally, the civic agency is proposing an alternate route from Monal to Bari Imam to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce vehicular emissions. Surveys are currently being conducted to determine the feasibility of dualizing the route and identifying the alternative path.
