Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to address a petition seeking ban on the drive-in cinema situated at the F-9 Park in the capital city, a news source reported.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah announced his decision on the application seeking closure of all open-air cinemas in Islamabad. He further directed CDA Chairman Aamir Ali Ahmed to issue a written order on the matter.

The petitioner, through his counsel, Yasir Chaudhry, maintained that drive-in cinema attractions were seen to be a source of entertainment only for car owners; adding that the Supreme Court (SC) had prohibited commercial activity in public parks. He further stated that these cinemas were seen to increase environmental pollution.
