Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) demolished various illegal structures in the capital, stated a news report. The Federal Minister for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi gave a go-ahead to the CDA for demolishing these. The massive operation was carried out by the CDA and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration.
Afridi directed both bodies to continue their operations as per the CDA’s rules and regulations. Several illegally constructed structures along Kashmir Highway, mostly marquees, were demolished using heavy machinery. Apart from this, illegally built houses, four sheds, one under-construction building, a steel workshop, four markets and various other shops were all demolished.
These marquees had been allotted land in the metropolitan area located in the national park for a five-year lease, which has now expired.
