Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has declared four major housing societies in Islamabad as illegal, according to a news report. These include Ghauri Town, Rehman Residentia, Akbar Enclave, and JS Block. All of these are located in Islamabad’s Zone IV and have been pointed out by the civic agency as not having taken prior approval from CDA.
The decision is taken under the CDA Ordinance 1960; ICT Regulation 1992; and modalities and procedures under ICT. The decision is based on the fact that various commercial and residential properties here have not been previously approved by CDA, nor do they follow Islamabad Building Regulations. The CDA has warned general public to refrain from buying here. The civic body also directed Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pvt Ltd, and Paksistan Tele-Communication Ltd to stop supplying electricity, gas and phone services to these and other illegal housing societies.
