Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to award the contract for widening and overhauling Park Road soon since the Rawal Dam Interchange has been completed, according to news published on December 19.

The officials of CDA’s engineering wing (whose names were not disclosed) mentioned that the authority has invited bids from government-operated companies under the 42(F) rules of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority. Two companies that participated in the bidding process were Railcop and National Logistics Cell (NLC).
Moreover, the officials mentioned that after completing all the legal formalities, the bid will be presented to the CDA chairman for approval. Once the bid is approved, the CDA will issue orders to formally start work on the project.
As per the details, the project will be completed within six months. Under the project, the rehabilitation and widening of Park Road, from Rawal Chowk to Tramari Chowk will be carried out. According to the PC-1, one additional lane will be added on each side, which will make it a three-lane road and existing lanes will be repaired.

It was mentioned that the 7.4-kilometre-long road has been facing traffic problems. The news source stated that the said road has two lanes and is in a dilapidated condition. So, overhauling Park Road will resolve the traffic congestion issue.
