Islamabad: A consultant hired by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has recommended that the IJ Principal (IJP) Road should be upgraded, according to a news report. The consultant stated that two additional rigid lanes and three flyovers were required to ensure smooth traffic flow.

He presented these findings to CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed, and stated that there was the need for two additional rigid lanes on either side of the road. The CDA issued a press release in the regard, stating that in addition to extending the existing seven box culverts on IJP Road, the development body will also construct a new box culvert. This press release also stated that the three flyovers would be built on 9th, 10th, and 11th Avenue, respectively.

The civic body had previously hired this consultant to conduct a feasibility study, with design and building estimates for the upgradation of this project. As per the consultant’s presentation, this project will cost approximately PKR 5.3 billion. Once this feasibility study is wrapped up, the body will launch the tender process to award the construction contracts for the project.
