Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Punjab government on Tuesday (December 7) decided that the civic agency will construct a 3-kilometre portion (which falls under the jurisdiction of both the cities) of Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR), according to news sources.

The Punjab government and the CDA held a virtual meeting, which was chaired by Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar. As per the details, the CDA will construct a portion of RRR along with an interchange. During the meeting, it was decided that the Punjab government will pay for the work conducted in the jurisdiction of the province. Both, the government and the authority will acquire land separately, but the CDA will handle the construction work.
Sharing more details, it was disclosed that the portion of the ring road will connect Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway (M-1) to G.T Road near Sangjani, where an interchange will be established to link to Islamabad’s Margalla Road. Another interchange will be constructed near N-5, Wapda Town.

Moreover, the construction of Margalla Road (from Sangjani to D-12) where it will be linked to Khayaban-e-Iqbal. According to the sources, the construction work on Margalla Road is underway and will be completed by the end of July 2022.
