Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to construct five interchanges during the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020-21 as part of the Islamabad Master Plan 2050, a news source reported. The civic body has submitted the project concept-I (PC-1) of six mega projects – including five interchanges – to the interior ministry for adding to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

CDA officials revealed that the aim of the projects is to address the future traffic flow of the capital through the expansion and extension of its road infrastructure. The development authority plans to construct the following interchanges:
- On the intersection of Eleventh Avenue at Kashmir Highway
- On the intersection of Twelfth Avenue at Kashmir Highway
- Construction of Tenth Avenue, including interchange and underpasses, from IJP Road to Khayaban-e-Iqbal
- On the intersection of Ninth Avenue with IJP Road
- Grade-separated facility at the intersection of Seventh Avenue with Kashmir Avenue

CDA’s technical committee has also approved a PC-1 for the development of Blue Areas in sectors F-9 and G-9. After the completion of the five interchanges, the northern and southern sides of the city will become connected via a signal-free corridor.
