Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) recently completed its bidding procedure for awarding the Burma Bridge construction contract, a news source reported. Six firms participated in the process held on July 15.

The construction work on the 152-metre-long and 11.5-metre-wide Burma Bridge is expected to completed within a year’s timeframe. According to CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed, the civic agency will finalise the project’s contractor this week.

Previously, the authority had estimated the project’s construction cost at PKR 199 million, but among the bids received, the lowest stood at 3.97% of the total estimated expense.

The infrastructure of Burma Bridge had remained deteriorated for the past seven years. In order to avoid any mishap, the authorities concerned recently shut down one of its routes and shifted the traffic to the other side; resulting in frequent instances of traffic congestion.
