The four-member committee was constituted to scrutinise housing projects and societies in Islamabad. Reportedly, it has surveyed four societies so far, while the survey for the fifth society is underway. The members of the committee include CDA Master Plan director, CDA Master Plan deputy director, CDA Programming and Evaluation director and an official of the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) Cooperative Housing Society Department.
As per the news reports, the committee is tasked with examining the layout of projects – including site visits to identify irregularities. The committee also checked the amenity plots earmarked in the project are actually secure. They further analysed availability of graveyards and commercial areas had not been extended beyond the limits of the layout plan, apart from sewerage treatment plants (STPs) being available.

The survey found the societies lacked in all of these aspects. Only one of the society had an STP installed but it was not functional. Other amenities including playgrounds, parks, mosques, hospitals, road infrastructure and a water supply network were either underdeveloped or not build according to the approved layout plans.
The committee will also submit a detailed report, after conducting the surveys of all the housing societies.
