CDA does not enjoy sound records in finishing its projects on time. A couple of projects that were inaugurated back in 1988 are still in progress. In fact the development work on one of them is yet to begin. However, none of this could affect the CDA’s courage of taking on more tasks as the authority showed commitment of starting work in sector C-14 and C-15.
Farkhand Iqbal, the chairman of CDA, has decided to begin the development of these sectors in two months time. While talking to the media, Farkhan Iqbal said that the CDA has finished more than 80% development work in the residential sector D-12 and the authority will soon announce the development work in sectors C-14 and C-15.
The authority has been accused of mismanaging development funds, as the development work did not start in Park Enclave even years after its approval and inauguration. The current chairman wants a clean slate for his tenure and is not willing to take the responsibility of the authority’s act before his appointment. According to him, all energies are deployed in the most efficient manner to finish the development of different sectors as soon as possible.
Sector C-14 and C-15 are located next to the planned Margalla Avenue on GT Road. Since the land belongs to the Government of Punjab, the local investors have serious concerns about the possession. Farkhan Iqbal has however assured that fair and smooth allotment of plots will begin in two months without any clashes over who owns the land as the land of these two sectors is the vacant.
There are rumours that CDA will join hands with a private firm for these two sectors and further dilute transparency of this project. The controversies associated with Margalla Avenue and its close proximity with the said sectors is likely to become a concern for the investors. It is also believed that since some prominent people own land in that area, the announcement of these sectors is made to benefit them.
Farkhan Iqbal has denied the rumours about the new sectors and insisted that these two sectors will become the prettiest sectors of Islamabad because of their location and scenic beauty. The concerns of affectees of Park Enclave and sector D-12, however, remain unaddressed.
