Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has shared details of the construction of the first phase of the Bhara Kahu bypass, according to the news reports published on May 25.

The CDA officials informed that the said project will be divided into two phases. The first phase starts from GT Road Sangjani to D-12 and the second phase is Bhara Kahu bypass. According to the CDA officials, the work on the first phase of the project is in full swing with 70% of the work completed. It was mentioned that the work on the Bhara Kahu bypass will be started soon. The CDA engineering wing officials mentioned that the engineering design and alignment of the bypass have already been finalised by Army’s E&C branch. The city managers are waiting for the draft of PC-1, which is being reviewed b the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO).

After receiving the PC-1 from FWO, the CDA will send it for final approval to the Development Working Party (DWP). Once the PC-1 gets approved, work will start on the construction of the bypass. The Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) draft report has been submitted to the Pakistan Environment Protection Agency (EPA). Reportedly, the 7.8-kilometre long bypass was designed to provide an alternative route for people travelling to Galyat, Kashmir, and Murree. As per the details, the proposed bypass will start from the Malpur area and end near Satra Meel on Murree Road.
