The 40-kilometre-long and 600 ft wide bypass road is expected to start at Rawat, and will be linked to the Murree Road near Bhara Kahu. It will also cross through the Defense Housing Authority (DHA)’s developments in Nilor and Tumair.
Once the south-eastern bypass project has been completed, it is expected to significantly alleviate the traffic burden on the Murree Road, Kashmir Highway and other thoroughfares in the area. The Zone-IV and V — the location for numerous housing projects of the city — will also use the road in order to reduce congestion on the capital city’s roads.
