Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has introduced a pilot project to facilitate the launch of an intelligent traffic management system in the capital city, a news source reported. As per officials, the authority recently launched the said programme on the Islamabad Highway – and the system would be replicated on Margalla Road, Kashmir Highway and other frequented city avenues upon success.

According to reports, the intelligent traffic management system is being run on the Islamabad Highway on a trial basis, and will be connected to other major roads within next six months. This system will renovate the traffic management protocol for the city; with commuters receiving information about their routes and other traffic concerns.

Moreover, smart traffic signals would replace traditional traffic infrastructure, while electronic signage have already been installed. A mobile app is also in development to reduce traffic related incidents by allowing passenger to effectively and efficiently plan their travels.
