Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to auction kiosks (vending points) in different locations in the capital city, a news source reported on April 5.

CDA Chairman Noorul Amin Mengal, who is also Chief Commissioner Islamabad, shared that the auction of vending points will be held on May 15-17 at the Citizen Club in F-9, from 10 AM onwards. He added that the auction of the planning wing’s approved kiosks will be conducted by Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).
As per the details, a total of 1,807 vending points will be auctioned, out of which 200 kiosks that are to be auctioned next month. These kiosks will be offered to businesses for Juice & Shakes, Tea & Coffee, Fruits & Vegetables, Burgers & Snacks, Tuck Shops, and Decoration & Gift shops. The location of these vending points will be parking points, parks, playgrounds, bus stations & terminals, and markets.
As per the details, the kiosks will be established under a specific design in a bid to enhance the beauty of the federal capital. Under this initiative, the successful bidder will get a 10-year license for operating the vending point. CDA Chairman Mengal clarified that sitting arrangements will not be offered at kiosks since it could become a source of encroachment on state-owned land.

According to MCI Administrator Irfan Nawaz Memon, the successful bidder will be provided design by the MCI for setting up the vending points. The chairman stated that the auction will help increase economic activity and will clear encroachments from public places and footpaths in Islamabad.
