Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will have ten days for getting solid waste treatments plants approved from the Capital Development Working Party (CDWP), a news source reported. It will present a report to the Supreme Court (SC) on setting up the plants for cleaning the polluted Rawal Lake within the same time period. A two-member bench of the SC gave the said directions.
The apex court was told that the civic body plans to set up four new solid waste treatment plants on water flows between Murree and Rawal Lake.

CDA also reported that it has allocated five acres of land in Lakhwal to dump solid waste. The land is along the banks of the lake, near Bani Gala. In response, the court directed the authority to hand over the designated land to a waste management company.
The SC adjourned the hearing for two weeks. It ordered to take more short-term steps for purifying the waters of the Rawal Lake.
