Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority Development Working Party (CDADWP) approved four development projects worth over PKR 8 billion in its 70th meeting on July 11, 2024.

According to the details, one of the major projects approved is the construction of underpasses at Serena Chowk and the Convention Centre, aimed at improving traffic flow from Srinagar Highway, Khyaban-e-Suharwardy, and Murree Road. This PKR 4.56 billion project (PC-1) includes underpasses on both sides of Serena Chowk and Srinagar Highway, and three loops towards Khyaban-e-Suharwardy. The project is expected to be completed within six months.Another notable approval is the PKR 3.99 billion project to alleviate traffic congestion at the junction of 9th Avenue and Jinnah Avenue. This project will feature an underpass, a flyover, and protected U-turns to streamline traffic flow in the area.

Additionally, the CDADWP approved PKR 98.88 million (PC-1) for the implementation of a Resource Planning and Financial Management System, and PKR 53.03 million (PC-2) to hire a consulting firm for the establishment of a four-tier data center in Islamabad. These projects are set to significantly enhance Islamabad’s infrastructure and traffic management, marking a substantial investment in the city’s development.
