According to the details, these projects include the Serena Interchange and an interchange at the junction of Jinnah and 9th Avenues, both known for severe traffic congestion, especially during peak hours. The CDA has announced these projects multiple times over the years, but work has yet to commence. Consultants will create detailed engineering designs and oversee construction. A CDA engineer mentioned that the design phase should be completed within two months, after which tenders will be floated. Both projects are prioritized in the CDA’s budget for 2024-25, ensuring sufficient funding.

The proposed Serena Interchange will include two underpasses to improve traffic flow at a major intersection and aims to make Srinagar Highway signal-free within three months. The Jinnah Avenue and 9th Avenue interchange (PTCL Chowk) will also address severe traffic congestion. Hiring consultants for these projects is a top priority for the CDA’s upcoming meeting, which will proceed even if some posts are vacant.
