Under the Bicycle Lab Project (BLP), the CDA plans to develop a 374 km long cycling track across various sectors and areas of Islamabad within 18 months, at an estimated cost of PKR 2.4 billion. These tracks will notably be integrated with highways linked to the Purple Line Metro Bus project, facilitating commuters’ transition from metro buses to bicycles in areas like Khayaban Iqbal, Sector G-6, G-7, G-8, and Jinnah Avenue. Additionally, the project aims to connect every sector of Islamabad with cycling tracks.

Furthermore, the BLP includes the construction of 150 parking stands equipped with facilities for renting inexpensive bikes. Each stand will accommodate over 40 electronic bikes, marking a transition away from petrol-powered bikes. The project also entails provisions for proper lighting, security, and other essential amenities along the cycling tracks.
