Islamabad: The City Managers of Islamabad and Rawalpindi recently agreed to jointly use a new landfill site to dispose solid waste. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) are set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in this regard, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Planning.
The decision was taken during a meeting that took place in the presence of Minister of Planning Asad Umar. According to a news report shared in a national daily, the twin cities will now be able to mutually use a landfill site that will be developed near Chakwal.

On an average, the capital city produces around 600 tons of garbage every day. Prior to this, the site that CDA planned to use was shut down due to its hazardous impact on the adjoining areas.
