Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Saturday (July 23) decided to acquire 20 more buses for its Blue and Green Line Metro Bus Service within a week, news sources reported. The decision was made following an overwhelming response to the bus service in the federal capital.

The decision was reportedly made during a visit to the bus service by CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed, who reviewed the city’s development work. The chairman was informed that a total of 5,800 and 6,000 people travel daily on the Blue and Green lines, respectively, while only eight buses run on each route, which is less than the required number.
Furthermore, it was informed that work on developing bus stations for both routes is ongoing and will be completed by August 14. Furthermore, the CDA has already granted a contract to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to build separate routes for the Blue and Green lines to keep them separate from regular traffic.

It is worth noting that Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Blue and Green lines earlier this month to provide affordable public transportation for the capital city. The Blue Line bus service operates from Koral to PIMS, while the Green Line runs from Bhara Kahu to the PIMS stop.
