CDA to add 13 new routes in orange, red line BRT

Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Captain (retired) Usman Younis announced on Monday (October 3) the addition of 13 new bus routes to the existing orange and red line Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system of the capital city, news sources reported.

He said that the CDA has already prepared a feasibility report for the procurement of new buses for the routes, and contracts will be awarded soon for the development of bus stations and route markings. In a statement issued by the CDA chairman, it was stated that the new routes will be added in two phases with 6 routes to be added in each phase. As per the details shared, the following will be the new routes:

• Route 1: From Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to Shifa International Hospital to Potohar Station Sector I-8 Markaz
• Route 2: From PIMS to the Secretariat, passing through Jinnah Super and Super Market
• Route 3: Will link Sector G7, G6, Melody Market, Aabpara, and NADRA with PIMS
• Route 4: From F-11 to Red Line Metro station F-8. From PIMS, route 5 connects sectors G-8, G-9, G-10, and G-11
• Route 6: From Abpara to Taramri Chowk via Park Road
• Route 7: From Police Foundation to the Faiz Ahmed Faiz Red Line Metro Station
• Route 8: From D-12 to the Orange Line Metro at G-10
• Route 9: Will stretch between F-11 and F-8

However, CDA has not shared details of routes 12 and 13 in its initial plan.
