Lahore: The Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA) has registered the Central Business District (CBD) as a flagship project on the development landscape of Punjab, according to news published on December 19.

The news source mentioned that the CBD is a business hub that has emerged as an economic backbone for the province. The PCBDDA has started the construction of the CBD Punjab Boulevard and remodelling of Kalma Chowk Underpass, at the cost of PKR 4.2 billion, to upgrade the infrastructure of the city. As per the details, the work on the remodelling of the Kalma Chowk Underpass has been progressing at an expedited pace. So far, 1,200 retaining piles, out of 2,000 retaining piles, have been completed. It was mentioned that the CBD Punjab Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Imran Amin is overseeing the progress of the project. The CEO has asked the relevant authority to complete the project by February 2023.

Moreover, the construction of the parking plaza roof has been completed. A spokesperson (whose name was not disclosed) mentioned that the construction work has been expedited to the maximum to ensure the uninterrupted flow of traffic. The news source revealed that an alternate traffic plan for the complete closure of the Kalma Chowk underpass is being formulated and will be convened to the public once completed.
