Lahore: The development work on the Central Business District (CBD)’s Punjab Boulevard – also known as the remodelling of Kalma Chowk Underpass – has been completed in 152 days and has been opened to the public, according to an announcement made via the national dailies on May 07.

The particulars of this project include:
- Advanced construction model and designing
- A signal-free corridor from Barkat Market to Liberty Chowk and Ali Zeb Road
- International development with PKR 4.2 billion
- Facilitating daily commute of over 0.3 million vehicles on daily basis
- Featuring the first-ever blue road developed to preserve deteriorating environmental conditions
Moreover, Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited Ali Zeb Underpass, which is newly opened to the public and reviewed the development work. He revealed that a formal inaugural ceremony for the project will be held soon. He lauded the completion of the Ali Zeb Underpass, the Kalma Chowk Remodelling for being completed before the deadline.
The Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA) has also announced that construction of a new 300-ft wide major road linking Walton Road and Ferozepur Road from Gulberg Central Business District will be launched by the month end. The project will include a flyover to cross railway tracks; it will be completed in four months.

Reportedly, the authority is currently finalizing preparatory arrangements for the ‘CBD Square Boulevard’ project. The 3.5-kilometre-long road-flyover project is estimated to cost PKR 8.5 billion. After the completion of the road, the traffic burden on Ali Zeb Road and Ferozepur Road will be reduced.
