Faisalabad: Cases have been registered against 17 people, including 12 developers, for constructing unapproved housing schemes and shops, a news source reported.
These housing schemes were established without the approval of the Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA). People were defrauded of their money when unapproved plots were sold to them.
Other suspects constructed shops without seeking approvals of commercial maps from the local municipal corporation.
Police cases have been registered against the culprits suspected to be involved in these violations.
Recently, under the stipulations of a new law, the FDA was given the authority to approve maps for private housing schemes in the city.
Previously, under Punjab Development of Citizens Act 1976, FDA was only responsible for granting initial approvals to private housing scheme. It had been the FMC’s role to give final approval over the maps and buildings plans for these projects.
This situation was seen to cause troubles for the FDA, as it sought the implementation of approved layout plans for private housing schemes – with the building control department having fallen under the FMC’s jurisdiction.
