Islamabad: A Chinese-led joint venture, spearheaded by M/s Ningxia Communications Construction (NXCC) alongside local partners M/s Rustam Associates and M/s Dynamic Constructors, has secured all four packages of Tranche-III of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Corridor Project. According to the details, the contracts were awarded through a transparent bidding process, resulting in a total cost saving of PKR13.24 billion. The National Highways Authority (NHA), aligning with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for transparency, ensured a competitive selection process.
The NXCC-led consortium won each package with significant cost advantages over the second-lowest bidders, with savings ranging from PKR 1.4 billion to PKR 7.1 billion across the four lots.
The CAREC Corridor Project, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), focuses on expanding the N-55 highway between Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Dera Ismail Khan, transforming it into a four-lane carriageway to enhance regional connectivity and trade.
Meanwhile, work on Tranche-I and Tranche-II is progressing. The 66.37 km Petaro-Sehawan section is 98% complete, while the Ratodero-Shikarpur segment has reached 43%. Tranche-II, covering the Shikarpur-Rajanpur stretch, is advancing with progress between 14% and 23%.

The successful completion of Tranche-III is expected to significantly improve Pakistan’s road infrastructure, fostering economic growth and regional trade integration.
