CAP also forwarded a proposal for the establishment of the Construction Development Bank (CDB), in order to bridge the gap between federal and provincial projects; in terms of the financial services provided to them by the commercial banks.
Previously, the PM had met with a delegation of the association, led by CAP Chairman Muhammad Asad Ullah Khan. It was during this meeting that PM Khan had announced the establishment of the Construction & Infrastructure Board.
The delegation went on to thank the PM for ratifying the construction sector as an industry. The officials added that the establishment of the CDB was essential for expediting the different construction projects currently underway in the country – leading to job creation and mobilisation of 40 ancillary industries.
On Wednesday, the CAP chairman stated that the prospective board should have the authority to restore the Pakistan Institute of Costs & Contracts (PICC). He added that PICC could advise the federal and provincial governments on matters pertaining to the construction industry, and conduct research activities related to the industry’s export services.
