Lahore: Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) Chairman Irfan Iqbal Sheikh has called for the removal of Withholding Tax (WHT), according to a news report. He maintained that it was unfair to charge 0.6% WHT on banking transactions.
The chairman and other PIAF dignitaries stated that this tax should be levied only from people who don’t pay taxes. Presenting their budget recommendations, they said that WHT be removed while no new taxes be imposed in the upcoming budget, and indirect taxes be removed while the revenue should be increased by taxes on all forms of income.
