Lahore: Representatives of a Canadian company on Sunday said that they were willing to establish modern solar plants in Punjab, a news source reported.

A meeting to this effect took place between Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar and Grace Solar Pakistan Chief Executive Nouman Khan in Lahore. Punjab Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik along with other officials concerned also attended the meeting.

The Canadian company’s chief executive gave briefings on the modern solar technology as well as performance of the solar panels. He also discussed the possibility of setting up solar plants across the province.

In response, the CM said that Punjab would benefit from modern solar technology. He asked the delegation to prepare a feasibility report with respect to the electrification of Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Cholistan, and Thal.

He said that solar power plants would help address the power crisis in said areas. To facilitate this measure, the provincial government would provide all possible assistance.
